If you have just moved into an apartment, a townhome or new house, then chances are you will be looking for a bedroom set complete with silk down comforters to keep you warm at night during the long winter months and cool during the summer months when the air conditioning is blowing strong.

Depending on what time of year it is, most retail department stores will only have sales on a down comforter or blankets during their big January White sale which is the end of the retail blanket, comforter, bedroom sets, towels and linen sales. This is not to say that the store will not carry these items on their shelves throughout the year, it only means that these items typically only go on sale during the January White sale when the store is clearing out the excess of these types of items to make room for the summer items even though it is January and no one is ready to wear a bathing suit.

Department and retail stores work on different schedules than the real world and this is why you can find snow shovels on the shelves in August but not in January.  Nearly 95 percent of all retail department stores and hardware stores are usually three to six months ahead of the weather schedule or seasonal schedule.  However if there is a big snowstorm in your area, these stores will drag out the snow shovels, salts and winter boots that were not sold three months earlier.

Down comforters on sale are usually reserved for the January White sale however there are certain days of the year that one could find a down comforter on sale as a special promotion in an upscale retail department store.  These days would be a special school days in August when people are moving their kids into dorms or perhaps one of the major holidays such as Memorial Day, Presidents Day or Labor Day.

Retail department stores have limited storage space and are always receiving new merchandise for their sales floors so they must limit their stock and rotate their sales so that new customers come in and returning customers have something new to look at and purchase.
