Work with Your Dog’s Paws before Taking It to the Dog Groomers
In order to save money, some people try to groom their dogs themselves but end up having to take their dogs to a Tampa dog groomer for a professional haircut done the right way and without all the crying and fussing many dogs give their owners when they try to groom them because they know they can get away with it. With a professional dog groomer, a dog will hold still better and longer because the dog doesn’t know how far they can ‘get’ with this person.
Dog groomers are trained to use the latest tools such as clippers and electric razors in order to get as close as possible to the dog’s skin without cutting them or hurting them in any way. There are also dog grooming technicians whose sole purpose is to help hold the dogs down while the dog groomer does their job. Some dog grooming facilities had the dogs standing with a light leash around their neck hooked to a tall pole in the center of the table in order to hold the dog still so that the groomer can work all around the dog without being interrupted or running into a dog technician.
Some dogs work better with the human touch of a dog technician holding them down while the groomer does their business of trimming the matted and overgrown hair or fur which is the reason for the visit. Other dogs will stand still with just a small leash holding them upright on a table while the groomer is able to walk completely around the dog, shaving what needs to be shaped in addition to picking up their feet to have their nails trimmed.
In order to help your dog and a Tampa dog grooming facility, it is a good idea to touch your dogs feet or paws as much as possible on a daily basis to get them used to having their paws picked up and fiddled with because that is basically what a nail trim is.
The more you work with your dog on picking up his or her paws and touching the nails, the better they will be when it comes time for a nail trim, and the calmer the groomer will be and the better for your dog.
